Active Work Time: 5 minutes
Time to Taste: 7 minutes
Servings: variable, but at least 4
No: eggs, dairy, gluten, nuts (potentially), soy

ingerdients

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate, cut in small pieces (or use dark chocolate chips)
  • 2 Tbs. hot green or white tea (I like rose or cherry tea for this recipe)
  • 2 tsp. hempseed
  • All sorts of fruit, cut into about one-inch cubes
  • Brazil nuts, or whole walnuts

Special equipment: You’ll need a fondue pot, or a small crockpot.

how to make it

  1. Heat water to just below boiling. Steep tea for about 2 minutes.
  2. Place chocolate in fondue pot, and light the heat source. Add hot tea and stir. Add hemp and blend together until everything has melted.
  3. Enjoy by dipping fruit and nuts in the chocolate!

helping hands

Kids love dipping their fruit-filled forks in the chocolate! If kids are small, be sure to help them, and NEVER leave a child unattended with the fondue pot “blazing.” Mini-crockpots, while not at all glamorous, are excellent “fondue pots” for little kids.

notes

  • It’s important to use organic chocolate, since cacao is so highly pesticided.
  • Be sure to use fruit that’s in season!
  • According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (02/08), eating just two Brazil nuts daily can increase selenium in the blood approximately 65%!
