Active Work Time: 5 minutes Time to Taste: five minutes Servings: about 2 1/2 cups No: eggs, dairy, gluten, nuts, soy
ingredients
- 1/3 cup hempseed
- 3 cloves garlic (more or less, according to your tastebuds)
- 2 Tbs. sweet white miso (or a mild miso that you like)
- 3 Tbs. honey
- 2/3 cup balsamic vinegar (or, if you are concerned about lead levels, use new apple cider vinegar. You may need more sweetener or water depending on your tastebuds.)
- 2/3 cup olive oil
- 1/3 – 1/2 cup water
how to make it
- Place everything in a small food processor or blender, and whiz around until smooth. (If you’re using a blender, you’ll probably have to chop the garlic coarsely before adding it to the mix.)
- Pour over a prepared salad, on cut veggies, or wherever you want added flavor and antioxidants!
helping hands
I think the reason my two-year-old loves this so much is because he participates in the preparation. When he first tasted it, his face revealed that the garlic was a little strong for him, but having “invested” so much in the garlic-peeling, he was intent upon eating the sauce on veggies!
notes:
- This sauce has it all: taste, antioxidants, immunity-boosting (garlic), probiotics (miso), and omega-3 (hempseed).
- Try raw apple cider vinegar for more benefits, or use maple syrup…get creative!
